Nutritional Holistic Cancer Survivor
Cancer IS Curable NOW

My diagnosed was in April of 2010 I have more than SURVIVED I actually got a LOT HEALTHIER  in that time.  My main focus was changing my lifestyle and nutritional profile.  I think I deserve to be called a SURVIVOR!  I now refer to my situation as a Nutritional Holistic Survivor?  Yea, I like that!

This section provides a short background and basic information on my cancer and diagnosis.  The following sections (see index on the left) will show my history, choices I am making (as I make them) and the results (hopefully positive!).

Background

Well, lets start with a bit of background.  Common items will help you relate to what have been facing.

I am a very happily married man, 78 years of age (2024) with a wonderful daughter and seven Grandkids!  What a family!

I have been in the computer business as a programmer, MIS Director and professional consultant for some 40 years!  Love the darn binary things!  It is my hobby as well as my profession.   As a result, I have lead a pretty sedentary life and am a bit heavy around the middle; as many guys of similar age seem to become.  Health wise, I have always been healthy; few colds/flu or other ailments.

I live in Central Florida and have for over 30 years.  I went to College in Houston Texas and consider that my 'hometown' although I was raised in Michigan and Indiana as a younger guy.

The Cancer

Biopsy

In March of 2010 my doctor did a rectal exam and detected an enlarged prostate.  She ran a blood analysis, including a PSA which came back 5.5.  That started the ball rolling.

On April 14th of 2010, I had a biopsy.  I didn't receive my results until May 24th 2010 (Doctor forgot to call me!!), which indicated that I had Adenocarcinoma with a Gleason Score of 4 + 4 = 8.

Only one of the eight prostatic tissue samples indicated the presence in the single core with a cancer length of 0.01 cm.

CT Scan

A following CT scan indicated that the prostate measured 5.3 x 4.3 CM and no surrounding infiltration was seen.  No evidence of metastatic disease or other complications were detected.

Options

The Urologist I was seeing gave me just three options: Surgery (robotic), Radiation or do nothing.  He discounted any other form of treatment.  He did not discuss any lifestyle changes, dietary or supplements or suggest any other alternatives.

When you get diagnosed with cancer, it is a real kick in the butt (someone recently said I had poor direction as the kick was more frontal!), it isn't at ALL hopeless. By no means!!!!!!

In my case, it was a brutal wake up call to re-evaluate my lifestyle and choices I had and was making. It made me think about how precious life really is and how very short it can be. It also made me wonderfully THANKFUL for all my blessings; wife, family, friends and all those lovely people who I have yet to meet and will call my friends! Heck, I had made it to 65; much better than so many other souls.

Well in order to continue to enjoy and contribute to my family and friends, I have to LIVE and so I made the choice: I Choose LIFE!

Sounds pretty easy, this choice. Some would say, well it was obvious, but not so much. How you choose to Live your Life is critically important. Something caused the cancer you (or your loved one) now have. Was it genetics? Was it the fast food burgers? Was it lack of exercise? Pollution? Genetically Modified Foods (GMO), aspartame, hydrogenated oil, high fructose corn syrup? Who really knows; your doctor sure as heck does NOT (just ask him/her).

In the end, it really doesn't matter how you contracted this cancer; the fact is that you have it and now must deal with it! This is where the life choice comes in. You can do one of three things:

Listen to your Oncologist and do surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and suffer greatly with all the debilitating side effects. Maybe living 5 years as that is all they will tell you as the 'success' definition.

Do Nothing – They call it 'watch and wait'. Wait for what for goodness sake?? A Miracle?

Take control of your life, change your lifestyle, nutritional intake and cure yourself!

Well number three sounds like a pretty far fetched concept; you doctor will surly tell you it is! Cure yourself? Hogwash the allopathic medical community will say (well most of them anyway). The real TRUTH is that you CAN cure yourself; there is documented proof in so many areas, case studies etc. Research it; don't believe me!

Well, it isn't all that easy as it takes commitment and your whole family and support group to accomplish this miracle of self healing. If you don't have a good support group; find one and ignore the others!

The following pages will document my prostate cancer diagnosis and my approach; I should say our approach because without my loving wife I could have never have gotten this far!

This site was built to document and track my fight with prostate cancer.  Diagnosed in mid April 2010, I began my research and my journey.  The following pages, sections and commentary will track my journey.  My research and findings, reading list diet information will all be presented.  I will respond to any and all email to [email protected]
